We wish to announce the release of our DVD & Booklet, on Mining in East Kent.We also want to invite Schools, Colleges, groups etc.            We want you to invite us, to come along, with our free DVD & Booklet and give a presentation, with film footage, memorabilia & talks, on our Kent Mining Heritage. Our presentation can be taylored for all age groups and can be adapted to your criteria.

The Miners of Kent, past and present, deserve to be remembered and it is important to show this country we are still here and still together as one Community.

Special thanks must go to the Heritage Lottery Fund for supporting this project. Their grant will allow us to continue to Rejuvenate and Revigorate our Kent Miners Heritage.

About
The Miner’s Statue was commissioned by the Central Electricity Board, the sculpture was Mr. H.R. Philips and it was originally bound for FerryBridge power station in Yorkshire.

However it was later decided to site the statue outside Richborough power station to commend the Miner’s of Kent for recognition of all their hard work and toil in keeping the Power Station working and producing electricity all year round.

When the station closed the C.E.B donated the statue to D.D.C, with Dover Museum being the curators, they then had to find an appropriate place for the Statue to be sited. more

On the 30th July 2011, the Statue and the Fatality Board at our new Kent Miners Memorial Site was unveiled. Many people turned out to celebrate the opening of this important event, taking its place, in the history of the Kent Miner.

Vintage Busses supplied by FOTEK ran visitors from the park, upto the site and returned them to the visitor centre for a Kent Mining Exhibition created by our committee with the help of the men and women from the Aylesham Heritage Centre.

I would like to thank everyone for making the Unveiling of the Statue, a day that will be remembered and take its place in the history of the Kent Miners. Special thanks for some, who helped turn it into a special day.
